P. Michael Bourgoin Memorial Scholarship Fund Mike Bourgoin, "Mr. Bourgoin" to thousands of students, brought inspiration, comfort, laughter and friendship to Bonny Eagle for 25 years before retiring in 1999. It is hard to imagine any teacher who ever made as profound an impact on so many students.
Mr. Bourgoin's tenure at B.E. spanned the years from when the only "theater" was the small stage in the cafeteria, shared with band and orchestra, to the construction of the space recently named for him, the P. Michael Bourgoin Auditorium.
He was born and attended school in Lewiston, went to college at Norwich University in Vermont and obtained his master's degree at Orono, following service in Vietnam.
An accomplished actor (Portland Players, Theater at Monmouth, Schoolhouse, Lyric, Biddeford City Theater, Russell Square, TV Commercials) his greater passion was always bringing the magic of drama to students.
At Bonny Eagle, he taught Theater Arts, Video Production, Drama and directed countless plays, always finding the best in any student who wanted to participate. Notably, his influence and inspiration was equally great among those behind the scenes as well as those onstage.
